I am pleased to share the results of individual student projects from our Human-AI Interaction (HAII) course at Hasselt University. The YouTube playlist showcases some of the work our students have done throughout the course.
Student Projects: Practical Human‑AI Interaction with LLMs
This playlist features a collection of innovative student projects that bring Human-AI Interaction principles to life through the use of large language models (LLMs). Each project explores how LLMs can effectively support users in achieving real-world goals across diverse domains.
Here are a few highlights from this exciting set of results:
- Blackjack Coach
An LLM-based assistant that coaches users while playing Blackjack. - Youth Recreation Program Manager
A fully functional system for creating and managing youth summer camp programs with dynamic activity planning. - Personalised Cooking Assistant
A recipe and meal planning assistant that adapts to individual tastes and dietary restrictions. - Fact Checker with Multi-Agent Approach
Uses multiple agents to verify the truthfulness of claims. It externalizes the confidence of the various models, and combines their findings to reach a final verdict. - Intelligent LLM Conversation Manager
A conversational interface that makes navigation through previous conversations much easier. It manages conversations over time with memory, automatic classification and dynamic restructuring when new conversations are added. - Intelligent Plot Generator
Helps users ideate and develop rich, correct and engaging data plots. - Story Writing Assistant for Consistent Narratives
Ensures continuity in character development and story arcs during creative writing.
Why These Projects Matter
These projects illustrate the synergy between LLM technology and thoughtful user experience design. Key takeaways include:
- Practical utility — Each project solves a specific need through AI assistance, and uses LLMs in a thoughtfull and correct way.
- Human-AI collaboration — The systems are designed to complement, not replace, human agency.
- User-centered design — Principles such as transparency, reliability, intelligibility and user experience are key concerns.
Together, they provide insight into how intelligent systems can support creativity, decision-making, and organization in everyday contexts.
