Call for Papers: EISEAIT 2026 — 4th Workshop on Engineering Interactive Systems Embedding AI Technologies

The call for papers is open for EISEAIT 2026, the 4th Workshop on Engineering Interactive Systems Embedding AI Technologies. The workshop takes place on June 30, 2026 at EICS 2026, with hybrid participation planned. I am co-organizing this edition together with colleagues from across Europe. Submit via EasyChair — deadline is May 8, 2026.

About the Workshop

AI is no longer a feature you add to a product. It is the foundation many interactive systems are built upon. Building these systems well requires new engineering methods, new architectural patterns, and new ways to reason about usability, explainability, and safety. EISEAIT is where that work happens.

Now in its fourth edition, EISEAIT has become a recognized venue within the EICS community for researchers and practitioners working on the hard engineering questions at the intersection of HCI and AI. The workshop launched at EICS 2023 in Swansea, followed by editions in Cagliari (2024) and Trier (2025). Each edition produced an extended post-workshop volume in Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science. The 2026 edition continues this tradition.

Topics of Interest

We invite submissions on the design, development, evaluation, and architecture of interactive systems that embed AI, or that use AI across the engineering lifecycle. Topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Methods and tools for engineering AI-embedded interactive systems
  • Explainability, transparency, and controllability of AI components
  • Software architectures for AI-driven interactive applications
  • Dependability, safety, reliability, and performance
  • Usability and user-centered design for AI-powered systems
  • Generative AI and LLMs in UI design and prototyping
  • Human-robot interaction with AI components
  • Automation and the human-AI equilibrium

How to Submit

Submit a PDF of 2 to 6 pages (references excluded) using the Springer LNCS template via EasyChair. At least one author per accepted paper must register for EICS 2026 and present at the workshop, in person or remotely.

Accepted authors are invited to produce an extended version of 10 to 20 pages for the post-workshop Springer LNCS proceedings.
